Welcome to the Health and Being Well on the Voice and Faith site! Many of us are very good at taking care of other people—but grossly inept at caring for ourselves! We are often so busy that we neglect our needs, choosing to get that massage, take that yoga class, or join that weekly prayer group one day. But one day never comes.
I believe there is a strong correlation within the mind, body, soul and spirit and how these parts of ourselves work together. If one part is starving, then other areas are impacted. I ascribe to the belief that whatever we feed will grow, and we have to take care of ourselves from the inside out. At least, this is what life has taught me.
Take the time, no, make the time to nurture yourself, your soul. This is part of putting on the oxygen mask before we try to help someone else! We need this in order to thrive, in order to not work at a deficit. Easier said than done, yes, but so very necessary.
Mental Health: If you need help, please ask for help! Talk with someone you trust regarding whatever you are struggling with—anger, fear, depression, grief and loss, suicidal thoughts—whatever it is. PLEASE seek help from someone you trust right away!
Voice and Faith will offer you information and resources to support your health and being well. We are not physicians and make no claims for healing, but we are concerned about how life impacts all of us and the need to find things that work for us, and make us healthier people living healthier lives on purpose. We hope the resources offered here will add to your quality of life.
May God be the main source of your nourishment, and may He comfort you and keep you in perfect peace.

-A Part of Being Well
Life is more than work, work, and more work! Though we can find value and fulfillment in our work, life requires balance! We cannot over-emphasize the importance of taking time out, time away, to simply “be.” Unfortunately, many of us are not able to make this a priority for a variety of reasons! On top of that, the past year has changed the way that many of us were able to take time away—often staying home to ensure our families remained safe. But, we all need time to relax, heal, and be restored so we can be better human beings (including being less cranky)!!!
We encourage you to intentionally take time out to enjoy your life. Take a trip to a special place!!! Go for a walk! Find simple (practical) ways to also take care of yourself. You will likely find that it is the BEST medicine for you!!!
As we all move toward our new version of normal, Voice and Faith is planning for 2022 and beyond. Consider joining us in 2022 (or 2023, depending on the pandemic) during one of our special trips, and check back frequently for more information!
Being well includes mind, body, soul, and spirit. Fortunately, there are many resources available to help nourish us and bring us to a place of balance and inner peace. Here are some resources that might be helpful to you or someone you know. Please know that when it comes to mental health, there is no shame in getting the help you need. This resource list will continue to be updated.

Blue Zones: I first learned about the Blue Zones approach to living by reviewing videos by Founder and NY Times Bestselling Author, Dan Buettner, and reading articles about people in specific geographic areas (Blue Zones) who are living centenarians. I found it fascinating, and have begun to adopt their principles. Their mission is to “empower everyone, everywhere to live longer, better.” They offer a wealth of information on their website!
